The Chupi Engagement Series: Daniel & Niamh

The Chupi Engagement Series: Daniel & Niamh

Meet the latest couple in The Chupi Engagement Series: Daniel & Niamh. When his plans to propose in Amsterdam were cancelled as a result of COVID-19, Dan ordered a You Me & Magic Engagement Ring online and proposed while out on a walk on Sandymount strand. We hear the gorgeous story of their relationship to date, and the plans they have for when they can see their loved ones again.

We met online in March 2018 then properly met on 14th April.  Were inseparable thereafter and moved in together in August of the same year.

Unbeknownst to Niamh, I (Dan) had planned on asking her to marry me during a weekend away in Amsterdam at the beginning of April this year.  The closer we got to the lock-down in Ireland, the more we both realised that our little getaway wasn’t going to happen.

We made one last trip to see her parents in Louth before the lock-down commenced, during which I asked both her Mum and Dad for their blessings. Hugs were had and tears wiped away before Niamh came back into the room.

“Would you be my quarantine buddy for life?  Will you marry me?”

On March 16th, the engagement ring arrived via DHL. By now, our flights had been cancelled by the airline and our hotel was partly refunded. “Niamh, let’s take the dog for a walk down the beach” I said. The 3 of us climbed into the car and headed to Sandymount Strand.

The Proposal

D – “So…eh… how do you think you’ll cope being quarantined with me during this whole thing, Niamh?”
N – “I can’t see any problem with that.”
D – “What if we were quarantined forever, just the 2 of us (plus Gatsby, the dog)?”
N – “What do you mean?”
D – “Would you be my quarantine buddy for life?  Will you marry me?”
‘Yes’ was the answer, amongst other words that are a bit of a blur and perhaps a little more colourful.

Niamh always knew she wanted a Chupi Engagement Ring . Shortly after we met, I was also made aware! I bought her a Chupi grey diamond necklace for Christmas in 2018.

I was drawn to Chupi for the engagement ring as it’s an Irish business using ethically sourced and unique grey diamonds. Not to mention that the jewellery, in general, is stunning.

Dan visited the store with his Mum during one of her visits, to get her opinion on the ring, however Niamh and Dan had visited numerous times before. Due to the pandemic, Dan ordered the You Me & Magic Grey Diamond ring online.

When we look at Niamh’s Chupi Ring , we think of: D – The symbol of my future; it’s a constant source of cheesy grins. N – Bubble of happiness and that I get to keep Dan.

We’ve not been able to see or hug our families since the engagement, so that’s absolute priority, but we have made plans – the biggest is that we hope to get married in August 2021 at Niamh’s family home in Louth.
