Meet the latest couple in our series: Michaela & Kevin. Michaela tells us about her gorgeous engagement with one of our bestselling rings, the Love is All Grey Diamond ring.
We met on Bumble and after talking online for a couple of weeks, we met for a drink after work in NoName bar. After chatting for a couple of minutes, we learnt we were both originally from Louth (about 20 minutes away from each other), had attended the same university at the same time and had multiple people in common! It was pretty funny and definitely helped break the ice. We have been inseparable ever since!
The day of the proposal we spent with my family. Unbeknownst to me, Kevin had pulled my dad aside after lunch to ask his blessing. When we got back to our apartment, Kevin started on dinner. I was on the couch trying to find a movie to watch that night which was not Godzilla (Kevin’s favourite collection of movies). I wasn’t even paying attention as he walked towards me, produced the pink Chupi box and got down on one knee!
I, of course said yes! We then popped open a bottle of champagne he had hidden to celebrate. It was a very sweet proposal and I was delighted he decided to propose in our place and not in front of a crowd of people so that we could enjoy it ourselves.

I started following Chupi a few years ago. My sister bought me my first Chupi piece for my 30 th birthday, a necklace with my birthstone and initial which I loved. I had always loved the ethos of Chupi and the heirloom ring. I loved the thought of having a unique Irish made piece that I could pass on to future generations. I wear my granny’s engagement and wedding rings which she passed down to me everyday, so that was very important to me. When Kevin and I started talking about getting married, I knew I wanted a Chupi ring and sent him a link to the website!
We went to buy the ring together in the store. Lir was amazing and made the process so easy. I had already known that I wanted a grey diamond but was unsure of which one and what style of ring.
Every time I look at my Love is All Engagement Ring , I am reminded of Kevin, the life we have already built together and all the adventures we have ahead of us.
Lir was so helpful and after trying on many different styles we both fell in love with the Love is All Grey Diamond ring . The rest was left to Kevin who kept the pick-up of the ring and details of the proposal under wraps.
I still stare at my Love is All Engagement Ring and how it sparkles when it hits the light. Every time I look at it I am reminded of Kevin, the life we have already built together and all the adventures we have ahead of us. No wedding plans have been made yet. We got engaged a week before the restrictions for Covid-19 came in. But it has been nice staying in the engagement bubble and not rushing into planning the wedding. It gives us time to think about what we want and make the day really special for the two of us.
