Meet the latest couple in The Chupi Engagement Series: Nick & Charlotte. They met 10 years ago in school but never lost sight of each other, and reunited three years ago when Charlotte hired Nick for work. Nick tells us the story of their relationship right through to their engagement last December.

Despite everything 2020 was a fantastic year. I won't remember it as the year the coronavirus got in our way, but as the year it all began for us. Everyone who knows us well knows that's a bit of a lie; the spark ignited ten years ago. In that time we have both been through a lot, and we've both changed a lot too. But we never lost sight of each other, and that spark always remained.

We met ten years ago at school. After that, we both went our own ways, but we never lost sight of each other. About three years ago, Charlotte hired me as a freelance photographer/videographer for the company she works for. Since then, we have started seeing each other more often.

On December 15th, when I got home from work, it felt like the right moment. I packed my piano, drove it to Charlotte's apartment, put it on its stand, turned on the Christmas lights and waited for her to get home.

Our wonderful trip to Florence last summer - "We're going there as friends" - turned out to be the beginning of something we should have started much, much earlier. The fact that we've known each other for so long makes that nothing has ever felt better and more logical than this.

I knew Charlotte wanted to get married, and that should I ask her, the only possibility to do so was with a Chupi piece, around Christmas. She kind of dropped hints about everything she had in mind for her engagement. Not very subtle, but I loved that. In that way, I was sure she would be beyond happy with it.

I wanted to come to Ireland to pick the diamond in person but due to Covid-19 that wasn't possible. I booked a digital appointment, and honestly, I didn't expect to get there that quickly. The Chupi Team picked three stones for us, based on the examples I'd sent beforehand. I saw them, and I instantly knew which one was meant for us. It was obvious. I had no doubt.

We really love Charlotte's Engagement Ring. Looking at it makes us feel what we have always felt for each other, but times ten.

I ordered the piece, and about five weeks later, the ring arrived. Now I only had to wait until Christmas to ask her. Seems easy, but I was so in love with the piece, and the idea of being engaged to the woman I loved for already ten years made me really impatient.

I only lasted for two weeks. On December 15th, when I got home from work, it felt like the right moment. I packed my piano, drove it to Charlotte's apartment, put it on its stand, turned on the Christmas lights and waited for her to get home. The moment I heard her opening the front door, I started playing. She instantly knew what was going on, kinda weirdly took place on the sofa and waited 'till the song was over.

Then I asked her.
“What the f*ck!” was her first reaction, but then she swiftly said “Yes”.

Charlotte has been hyped about Chupi for a few years now, and I totally get why. On our first "official date", she showed me the piece she loved. I instantly saved it on my phone!

We really love Charlotte's Engagement Ring. Looking at it makes us feel what we have always felt for each other, but times ten. We're finally together and we're getting married!

We recently started planning our wedding, and we have a date in mind. We can't wait to share it with our friends and families!
